Contrived Contrarian GPP DFS Plays of Week 5

by The Podfather, October 9, 2016

I get it. Denver has the best defense in the NFL. I get it. The Falcons are +4.0 underdogs facing the Broncos on the road, but this “bad match-up” for Devonta Freeman on paper may not be so bad in reality. Denver is actually allowing bigger plays on the ground than through the air.

Whether Eddie Royals is active or inactive, Cameron Meredith is an unknown, deep, deep, deep, deep sleeper with the minimum salary and a tournament-winning best-case scenario fantasy point total in his range of outcomes.

Alshon Jeffery is an Automatic Buy After Kevin White Landed on Injured Reserve

by Andrew Persanyi, October 8, 2016

Alshon Jeffery was expected to repeat last season’s high volume, but so far he’s been a letdown. In wake of the Kevin White injury, Jeffery becomes a buy-low candidate moving forward.

While Jeffery has struggled thus far, he has maintained efficiency and his volume should rise again. Undeterred by a new quarterback situation, he will dominate his favorable schedule in 2016.

DFS Dreamers & Fantasy Streamers: Contrarian GPP and Deep Sleeper Plays for Week 5

by Eric McClung, October 7, 2016

Before jumping into the suggestions for Week 5 let’s do a quick victory lap for last week’s streamers. If you played these guys you more than likely picked up a win. While these results help to strongly reflect all of the hard work that goes into Player Profiler, it also serves as a very important reminder that the waiver wire is always producing useful options that allow us to avoid having to use players in bad matchups.

Speaking of bad matchups to steer away from, you should absolutely sit Matt Ryan — currently fantasy’s No. 1 player — as he travels to Denver to face the mighty Broncos pass defense. If Cam Newton and Andrew Luck could not exceed 200 passing yards in altitude just how low is the floor for Ryan in this nightmare matchup? I’ll gladly stream Flacco again or pick up Brian Hoyer in favor of Ryan.

Week 5 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Watch: Robert Woods Target Hog

by Nathan Aucker, October 4, 2016

Robert Woods has target hog tendencies. The RotoUnderworld Team provides ten players, including Woods, to target across fantasy football formats.

In other news, DeAndre Washington continues to outplay Latavius Murray. Washington would be higher on this list except for a painful late game fumble in Week 4.

Contrived Contrarian GPP DFS Plays of Week 4

by The Podfather, October 2, 2016

The uber-athletic Quincy Enunwa checks a lot of phenom wide receiver boxes. Roll out Enunwa as a contrarian upside play operating in the middle of the field where the Seahawks defense is most vulnerable.

By funneling targets to running backs, Denver has accumulated an RB-friendly +24.0 (no. 25) DVOA against opposing running backs in the passing game this season. Despite the difficult match-up narrative, Charles Sims shows up in the top-12 running backs on PlayerProfiler’s week 4 PPR RB rankings.

DFS Dreamers & Fantasy Streamers: Contrarian GPP and Deep Sleeper Plays for Week 4

by Eric McClung, September 30, 2016

It looks like Dez Bryant (knee) won’t make the trip to Santa Clara to face the San Francisco 49ers. His absence instantly puts all of the Dallas wide outs into the streamer conversation. Niners slot man Jimmie Ward (quadriceps) is unlikely to play which is even more good news for Cole Beasley, already the team leader in targets, receptions, and recieving yards. Meanwhile, Terrance Williams caught all four of his targets last week against the Bears for 88 yards, but put the ball on the ground after a 47-yard gainer. If you need to get real deep, check out Brice Butler.

A number of strong values this week will allow DFS players to pay all the way up for Cam Newton at the Falcons. Meanwhile, those looking to save a little bit at quarterback will often find themselves on Cousins hosting the Browns. To get contrarian I’m going all the way down to the minimum with Brian Hoyer. Jay Cutler (finger) was limited in Wednesday’s practice and sat out Thursday, leading one to assume he’s not going to start.

by Nathan Aucker, September 27, 2016

Orleans Darkwa takeover time. The RotoUnderworld Team provides ten players, including Darkwa, to target across fantasy football formats.

Kenneth Dixon possesses an impressive history of college production. The touchdown maker, Dixon, could provide an impact in the wide open opportunity of the Baltimore backfield.

Tomorrow’s Newspaper: Dexter McCluster and Week 4 Waiver Wire Prescience

by Ray Marzarella, September 25, 2016

Dexter McCluster displayed good efficiency last season, albeit for a different team. Given the unfortunate rash of injuries in San Diego, he needed to be signed as insurance. Melvin Gordon fits the mold of an effective three-down workhorse, but McCluster’s 98th-percentile College Target Share will ensure that he at least contributes in the passing game.

Jack Doyle’s 13th-ranked Hog Rate (targets per snap ratio) of 10.6-percent is promising because it shows us that the team is utilizing him when he’s on the field. Sure both of his TDs in Week 1 came after Allen was knocked out of the game, after scoring a TD of his own. But he’s proven to be a big part of this offense in the season’s early going, seeing his Snap Share and Target Share increase from Week 1.

DFS Dreamers & Fantasy Streamers: Contrarian GPP and Deep Sleeper Plays for Week 3

by Eric McClung, September 25, 2016

Ryan Tannehill is the top QB streamer this week and is going for a reduced price on DraftKings and FanDuel. Blame the Browns for the meh 42.5 combined total from Vegas. The Dolphins won’t have Arian Foster (groin) and are going to mix and match to see what works in the backfield.

I’m looking at Jarvis Landry, Travis Benjamin, and Stefon Diggs as the popular, cost-effective receivers in DFS. That leaves room for someone in the higher salary bucket. While I don’t see a clear chalk option in that group, Allen Robinson is being viewed by many a logical bounce back candidate against Baltimore, who were just roasted by rookie Corey Coleman for 104 yards and two scores on five catches.
