Contrived Contrarian GPP DFS Plays of Week 4

by The Podfather ·

Here are three contrarian Week 4 plays for guaranteed prize pool (GPP) contests on DraftKings and FanDuel this week.

Brian Hoyer, QB, Chicago Bears

Brian Hoyer faces a Detroit secondary that leads the league in touchdown passes allowed. Hoyer can push the ball downfield and has some monster games on his resume against soft defenses.  Priced at $5,000 to $6,000 this week, Hoyer shows up in numerous PlayerProfiler high volatility GPP lineups.

Charles Sims, RB, Tampa Buccaneers

Charles Sims is the contrarian play of the week. Denver’s rush defense has been degraded from its 2015 peak, and while Broncos corners continue to be the best in the NFL, they will blanket Tampa Bay’s wide receivers forcing Jameis Winston to feed Sims in the passing game. By funneling targets to running backs, Denver has accumulated an RB-friendly +24.0 (no. 25) DVOA against opposing running backs in the passing game this season.  Despite the difficult match-up narrative, Sims shows up in the top-12 running backs on PlayerProfiler’s week 4 PPR RB rankings.

Quincy Enunwa, WR, New York Jets

Brandon Marshall projects to command Richard Sherman’s attention and with Eric Decker out this week.  The uber-athletic Quincy Enunwa checks a lot of phenom wide receiver boxes.  Roll out Enunwa as a contrarian upside play operating in the middle of the field where the Seahawks defense is most vulnerable.
