RB Risers

Jaylen Wright, Tennessee

Jaylen Wright needed to test through the roof to solidify himself atop my running back ranks and he did just that. He ran a 4.38 40-yard dash, posted a 38” vert, and a 11’2” broad jump. All metrics were amongst the top of the running backs at the combine.

Trey Benson, Florida State

We all knew that Trey Benson has the size to be a producer at the NFL level, but after his performance at the combine we all know how athletic Benson is. Running a sub four forty-yard dash at six feet and 216 pounds is impressive.

Any fantasy gamer that wasn’t excited for Benson before is now.

Tyrone Tracy Jr., Purdue

The running back from Purdue came to the combine as a relatively unknown prospect, but he has put himself on the map now. Tyrone Tracy Jr. weighed in at over 200 pounds and tested well. He had a better broad jump than Trey Benson and Braelon Allen, ran a faster forty than Blake Corum, and had the second-best vertical jump amongst the running back prospects.

MarShawn Lloyd, USC

MarShawn Lloyd ran a 4.48 forty-yard dash. At 220 pounds, that will translate well at the next level. He had a strong showing at the Senior Bowl and now the NFL Combine. Lloyd continues to be a riser throughout the NFL Draft process.

Isaac Guerendo

No running back in the class made more of an impression than Isaac Guerendo at the NFL Combine. Guerendo measured in at six feet and 221 pounds and ran the fastest 40-yard dash amongst the running back position. He leaves Indianapolis with a 98th-percentile Burst Score and a 100th-percentile Speed Score.

Fallers

Audric Estime, Notre Dame

There was a little lack of excitement for Audric Estime throughout the 2023 collegiate season and after his workout at the combine we all know why.

Estime ran an underwhelming 4.71 40-yard dash which was the lowest out of the running back class.

Bucky Irving, Oregon

It was no surprise that Bucky Irving measured in under 200 pounds. The surprise came when he ran a 4.55 40-yard dash, and it wasn’t a good surprise. Due to his weight and workout, Irving is in the 7th-percentile for burst and 27th-percentile for Speed Score.

Dillon Johnson, Washington

Dillon Johnson came into the process as a player that could rise throughout, but that did not happen at the NFL Combine. Johnson was slower than anticipated and now looks like a candidate to go undrafted in the NFL.

Braelon Allen, Wisconsin

The spot for best back in the class was being held by Braelon Allen. After his week in Indianapolis, he no longer has that in his grasp.

Allen decided to skip running the 40-yard dash and was towards the bottom for the vert and broad jumps. It is safe to question his overall athleticism, and that is not a good thing.
