2026 rookie combine

The 2026 NFL Scouting Combine wrapped up in Indianapolis, and the latest installment of my NFL Draft Top 100 Big Board is live. This rookie class showed they were much more athletic than many expected. More than 319 players were on hand to showcase their physical tools and athletic traits in front of NFL evaluators, from 40-yard dash times to positional drills and measurements. Such a wave of new information necessitated dropping Big Board 4.0 right away.

Based on the latest prospect rankings, I present the biggest winners and losers from the 2026 NFL combine.

Combine Winners

Monroe Freeling (OT, Georgia) solidified his position as not only an early-round tackle but also as my new No. 1 offensive lineman. His athleticism was eye-opening, and of all the linemen in the league, he might have the highest probability of becoming a franchise left tackle.

Mike Washington’s testing made headlines, including a 4.33 40-yard dash time, making him the fastest ballcarrier in Indy. In a lackluster running back class, Washington’s size and speed profile put him in the next back off the board conversation after Jeremiyah Love is gone.

Wide Receiver Bryce Lance also put up impressive speed, clocking a 4.34 in the 40, and making himself the most hyped pass catcher from North Dakota State since Christian Watson.

Combine Losers

Cashius Howell struggled to make a positive mark at the combine, posting underwhelming times. On top of that, he recorded a shorter arm length and wingspan than many evaluators desire for his position. Those measurables, combined with average testing results, will likely cause some teams to question his long-term edge projection.

While not a disaster, Jadarian Price‘s testing output did little to elevate his pre-combine perception. It has been said that he wasn’t explosive enough to be an early-round pick.

Malachi Fields entered the Combine with some buzz but disappointed in speed drills, running slower than expected for a long, athletic receiver. His times didn’t match the ability shown on tape, which could slow his drone up boards as teams adjust their evaluations.

Up Next: Home-Field Advantage

For some players, like Freeling, Washington, and Lance, the week will end with enhanced status and reinforced upside. For others, such as Howell, Price, and Fields, the narrative is more nuanced. It will require strong Pro Day showings to regain their momentum. The Senior Bowl and combine are done and dusted. Next, the prospect world will turn its attention to Pro Days and individual workouts. Folks, we are in the home stretch for the NFL Draft.
