Sidelined by a left quad injury he suffered late in Monday night’s 34-17 loss to the Bears, Darnold will miss Seattle’s week 9 game. Head coach Mike Macdonald did say this would be a week to week injury, which could make Drew Lock the starter for the foreseeable future, although Macdonald went on to rule out Darnold needing to go on IR.

Darnold was inconsistent against the Bears, completing 17-of-34 passes for 188 yards, two touchdowns and an interception while taking three sacks. He has now thrown at least one interception in every game he has started this season, and sits at 10 touchdowns to nine interceptions with a completion rate near 60 percent. Lock reportedly has a right (throwing) elbow injury designation that bears monitoring, but a healthyish Lock likely keeps the passing game running through Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who caught nine passes for 155 yards and all three Seattle touchdowns from Lock in their first meeting with Arizona.
