The Los Angeles Rams are preparing to shift Terrance Ferguson into a prominent role after an incremental rookie season where he parlayed a deep seam-stretching role into 231 yards and three scores. With Colby Parkinson and Tyler Higbee projected to handle more traditional inline duties, team insiders view Ferguson as the primary tight end target earner on the perimeter.

Given that rookie Max Klare faces a slow developmental curve, Ferguson has maximum late-round upside appeal for fantasy managers looking for an ADP exploit in fantasy football best ball formats, as well as dynasty and seasonal leagues.

Despite a late-season hamstring injury, Ferguson is poised for significant snaps if he wins the starting role in the Rams’ 13-personnel heavy scheme. However, a TE1 finish remains difficult to project for any Los Angeles tight end given the intense target competition.

Comparable to Brenton Strange, Terrance Furguson is a size-speed specimen featuring 85th percentile-plus speed and burst scores. As the most athletic TE on the roster, Furguson is the best breakout bet among Rams tight ends.

The Los Angeles Rams just snagged Max Klare at No. 61, securing an athletic TE whose versatile route-running and soft hands make him a tailored fit for Sean McVay’s sophisticated 12-personnel sets. Klare had a 21.2 Breakout Age and a massive 19.9% Target Share (64th-percentile), proving he can command high-volume attention while maintaining elite efficiency like his 13.4 College Yards Per Reception in the Big Ten.

In dynasty formats, Klare joins a crowded TE room including Tyler Higbee, Colby Perkinson and Terrance Ferguson, making his future role unclear.

The Los Angeles Rams have signed tight end Terrance Ferguson, their 2025 2nd round selection, to a four year contract. The deal is worth $9.7 million with $8 million guaranteed.

As training camps begin to start up all the 2nd round picks have begun signing their deals in quick succession and Ferguson is the latest domino to fall. The day two draft pick will be competing with Tyler Higbee for snaps in a potent Rams offense.

Ferguson might not have much of a role early in the season but he’ll be given the opportunity to prove to be the long term answer at some point this season since Higbee is entering the last year of his contract. He’s worth a late round pick on three tight end teams or to pair with one of the elite options at the top of the draft.

Terrance Ferguson was quoted saying the Oregon offense used concepts from the McVay system such as using motion to attack space, also citing that he’s had plenty of opportunities to study the system and that he feels comfortable in it already. Ferguson is confident in bringing his versatility to the Rams, stretching the field and creating mismatches with linebackers or safeties. Not just idle words when you look into his very impressive combine results Ferguson ended up with the second highest athleticism score amongst the 2025 TE rookies, and is in the 95th percentile all time at the position.

Following Scott Boulanger’s (aka Jax Falcone) Anatomy of a Tight End, Ferguson checks nearly all the boxes for a breakout: Round 2 draft pick, early declare,  6’5”, 245+ lbs, sub 4.70 40-yard dash, and  speed score between 100-110 (108). He came in at 1.28 yards per team pass attempt in his best season and really just missed hitting the 14 yards per reception mark. He did, however, have some big games against top competition – 41 YPR against Michigan State, 17 YPR vs Michigan, 17.3 vs Wisconsin and 15.5 against Ohio State, so when the team needed him he stepped up. While the Rams offense has some major target hogs this year, Ferguson should have a shot of becoming an impact player as soon as next year.

Oregon tight end Terrance Ferguson has been selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Rams, who have been looking to add to their tight end position.  Ferguson had a excellent performance at the NFL Scouting Combine, where he ran a 4.63-second 40-yard dash, the fastest among tight ends. At 6-foot-5 and 247 pounds, he showcased impressive athleticism and versatility, making him a compelling addition to the Rams’ offense.

During his college career at Oregon, Ferguson accumulated 134 receptions, 1,537 receiving yards, and 16 touchdowns.  He set records for the Ducks among tight ends. His ability to contribute both as a blocker and a receiver aligns with the Rams.

For Fantasy Football he should slide into the starting role early on in his career.  He can be on a late round add in dynasty rookie drafts and should be on your late round list in Tight End Premium leagues.
