Deebo Samuel lands a deal worth up to $7 million to reunite with Kyle Shanahan in San Francisco, offering a systematic rebound opportunity despite a declining 1.62 Yards Per Route Run mark last season. He steps into a receiver room devoid of a prime-age playmaker. Samuel will augment the passing game in place of the injured Ricky Pearsall and Christian Kirk and alongside an aging Mike Evans, and rookie De’Zhaun Stribling.
Unfortunately, wide receivers with Samuel’s YAC-heavy play style never age well. While prime target volume is out of reach, limited backfield competition behind Christian McCaffrey also leaves room for engineered rushing touches to augment his fantasy production and retain Top-40 fantasy WR potential. Most importantly, Samuel’s arrival does not significantly diminish Stribling’s sleeper upside.

Brock Purdy praising De’Zhaun Stribling early in camp carries real weight given San Francisco’s remade receiving corps. With Christian Kirk now sidelined by a calf strain after managing a paltry 239 Receiving Yards (No. 159) and 6.7-percent Target Share (No. 119) last season, Stribling is taking advantage of critical first-team reps.
Stribling now has a clear path to carve out immediate volume alongside Ricky Pearsall and Mike Evans. Given his explosive YAC ability, Stribling is now building sleeper buzz that fantasy gamers need to start taking seriously, especially in fantasy football best ball and dynasty league formats.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jacob Cowing emerged as an offseason standout by generating big plays downfield during team drills. Despite this momentum, his path to weekly targets remains blocked by a crowded depth chart after a rookie campaign featuring a 1.4-percent Target Share.
To start translating his elite prospect profile—highlighted by a 61.4-percent College Dominator Rating and a 36.8-percent College Target Share—into fantasy production, Cowing needs multiple injuries ahead of him on the depth chart. To that end, Ricky Pearsall has been incredible fragile since entering the NFL, gunshot wound notwithstanding, George Kittle is one of the most oft-injured tight ends, and Mike Evans is about to turn 33. The path for Cowing could clear, but his diminutive frame offers a Tutu Atwell-meets-Marquise Brown ceiling. Stash Cowing in the deepest fantasy football dynasty leagues, but he should not be drafted in best ball… yet.
49ers VP of Player Personnel Tariq Ahmad said the team drafted WR De’Zhaun Stribling because of his toughness and work ethic. Meanwhile, Mike Evans, Ricky Pearsall, and Christian Kirk currently sit atop the 49ers’ wide receiver depth chart.
Although he may have a slow start, Stribling’s usage should be monitored in seasonal leagues, and he warrants consideration in the second half of dynasty rookies drafts based on draft capital and athleticism alone. His playmaking ability could eventually start to earn him consistent targets, especially given the durability concerns surrounding the three veterans.
The Texans depth chart has had a severe shakeup since last season, Christian Kirk was the early addition to that depth chart and was projected to slot into Stefon Diggs and Tank Dells slot snaps. The team ended up drafting 2 receivers on day 2 of the 2025 draft, Jayden Higgins with pick 34 and then Jaylin Noel with pick 79. While early analyst projections had Higgins lining up as WR2 alongside Nico Collins and Christian Kirk manning the slot as WR3 (and possibly sitting out on 2 wide receiver sets) the team has not affirmed those speculations at this time.
It’s going to be tough to accurately project the Texas offense this season. The real clear winner here is C.J. Stroud going into his 3rd season, the Texans clearly made an effort to ensure their franchise QB won’t be lacking weapons in the pass game — even adding a prolific pass catching back in Woody Marks with a 4th round draft pick. Nico Collins has been getting a ton of buzz around a top WR finish this year, and the coaching team has commented on the familiarity the Iowa State rookies have with each other being beneficial to the offense overall. Ultimately the team still has offensive line questions and there are only a limited amount of passes available to be caught in any given game. Collins won’t be able to command the majority of those targets and rookie hype often overestimates first year receiver production. What we don’t have…is enough talk about Kirk’s value as a late round pick in 2025, especially in Best Ball formats.

The Houston Texans acquired wide receiver Christian Kirk from the Jacksonville Jaguars in early March for a 2026 7th-round pick. With Stefon Diggs leaving via free agency and Tank Dell set up to miss possibly all of the 2025 season, the Texans needed to take action for franchise quarterback C.J. Stroud.
Since March 20th, Christian Kirk has risen on Underdog 11.7 spots in ADP from WR-56 to WR-53. This jump can be attributed to the fact that no other formidable weapons have been added to the Houston Texans either via trade or in free agency. The next spot where the Texans can bolster their offense will be the NFL Draft which will take place the weekend of April 24th.
With Christian Kirk moving from round 10 into round 9, expect Kirk’s rise to slow down as soaring up the single digits tends to move at a slower pace. The bullish case for Christian Kirk is if he can have a fully healthy season like he did in 2022. In 2022, Kirk’s 14.2 fantasy points per game ranked No.18 making him a viable WR-2. Don’t let any of this distract you from the fact that no one has ever been cooler than Val Kilmer was in the 1995 cinematic masterpiece that was the movie Heat.
