NCAA denies Chambliss a sixth year of eligibility following his breakout season.
After a heartbreaking loss to Miami, Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss was denied a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA. Ole Miss can still appeal the decision, but for now, Chambliss’ college career appears to have ended following a postseason that dramatically reshaped his NFL Draft outlook.
A former Division II National Champion, Chambliss made the jump to the SEC and immediately delivered, leading Ole Miss to the College Football Playoff and earning SEC Newcomer of the Year honors. He stepped up in the biggest moments, including an upset of Georgia where he was named the Sugar Bowl MVP and pushing Miami to the limit in the Fiesta Bowl.
Chambliss has become one of the fastest-rising, most exciting prospects in the class. His mobility, arm talent, playoff poise, and off-script ability give him legitimate upside as a developmental NFL QB. In a wide-open quarterback class behind Fernando Mendoza and Dante Moore (if he declares), Chambliss could land as high as the QB2 in the 2026 NFL Draft.
