Trea Shropshire's college football career began at Blinn College in 2018. He barely played in his first season with notable teammate being Danny Gray, future NFL third-round pick, on the roster too. The following season, Shropshire finished third on the team in receiving yards (529), but led the team in touchdowns (8) and yards per reception (23.0). After the 2019 season, Shropshire left Blinn College to join UAB.
In 2020, Shropshire's big play potential carried over as he finished third on the team in receiving yards (310) while averaging 22.1 yards per reception. The following season, Shropshire would lead UAB in receiving yards (703) and scored seven touchdowns. His 26.0 yards per reception led the NCAA. Shropshire completed the receiving trifecta in 2022, leading the team in receptions (41), receiving yards 9923), and receiving touchdowns (6). For a second-straight season, Shropshire led the NCAA in yards per reception (22.5). He averaged over 20.0 yards per reception in EACH of his five college seasons.
