New York Giants star wide receiver Malik Nabers appears to be behind in his recovery from a torn ACL
After a sensational rookie year that saw him gather 109 balls for the New York Giants, Malik Nabers was off to a rousing start in 2025 before tearing his ACL on an awkward landing in Week 4 of 2025. His surgery was delayed nearly a month for the swelling to subside and to do some “pre-hab” before going under the knife. That extra month, combined with other potential complications with his knee, seems to have his timeline squarely behind the 8-ball.
The timing of the injury itself should allow for a return to form by the start of the season, if not sooner. The delay in surgery and the need to walk with the assistance of a cane in January suggest that very little progress has been made. Surprised by the use of a can, reporters at a recent press conference asked him why he had it, point-blank. Nabers’ reply was “I had a lot messed up in my knee,” suggesting it was not only the ACL that needed attention. Besides the cane, Nabers also donned a particularly large and bulky knee brace to keep it stabilized.
The wideout was candid, almost transparent when asked about his chances of being ready at the start of 2026, saying, “My target date is when my body feels good to get out there, and I can continue to be who I am.” As if to clarify, he added, “If my body doesn’t feel right [Week 1], then I’m not going to play.” It was tough news to swallow for Giants fans, who are chomping at the bit to see Nabers and Jaxson Dart come together as an explosive duo.
Fantasy lowdown: Barring news emerging to suggest more than an extra week or two, Nabers won’t slip much initially in redrafts. In dynasty, owners can only hope to weather the storm, unless so confounded by the news that they opt to move him while he’s still a max asset. The Giants will likely be looking to the draft again for another big-play, early-round receiver. If Nabers is set to miss the start of the season, and impending free agent Wan’Dale Robinson (who is due a payday) secures a job elsewhere, New York has to compensate with another weapon for their signal-caller if they expect to win games.

Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers to get MRI to determine if he tore his right ACL.
Giants star wide receiver Malik Nabers is feared to have suffered a season ending injury in the teams’ 21-18 win over the undefeated Los Angeles Chargers. The timing of the injury is even more painful considering how Jaxson Dart was making his rookie debut.
While things were looking up for the team early, Nabers suffered a non-contact injury on a deep ball from Dart. From a personal and team perspective this is a major blow to the Giants as an organization. Fantasy managers are equally sad in their own right as it relates to losing a star player.
Malik Nabers was primed to challenge for the WR1 overall spot in 2025. Just 4 games into the season, the answer to that question will have to arrive at another time. Nabers should be rostered in redraft until final confirmation and in dynasty leagues he will certainly have increased trade liquidity as teams deliberate winning now versus rebuilding of the future. Deals that were once off the table can now be made.

In an wild shootout with the Cowboys, Malik Nabers comes through with a 37.7 fantasy point performance.
The New York Giants lost a hearty shootout 40-37 to the Dallas Cowboys in overtime. The game wasn’t without fireworks for No.1 wide receiver Malik Nabers. Concerns for Russell Wilson getting Nabers the ball were premature.
Nabers is the Week 2 WR2 heading into Monday Night football. Nabers caught 9 passes on 13 targets with 167 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns. Nabers has a legitimate shot at 200 targets should he stay healthy for the entire season. Teammate Wan’Dale Robinson caught 8 passes for 142 receiving yards and a touchdown.
It was an all around great day for fantasy stats as Wilson threw for 450 passing yards and 3 touchdown passes. Expect benching rumors to subside for Wilson while Nabers is a viable threat to be the WR1 overall in fantasy football while Robinson should be picked up in all leagues.

New York Giants star Wide Receiver, Malik Nabers, has missed another practice while dealing with a toe injury.
Malik Nabers has missed another day of practice for the New York Giants. This information may be insignificant, but he has a history of toe injuries dating back to his college days. Head Coach Brian Daboll says, “This was part of the plan, and he is fine,” and declines to answer questions about whether further tests are needed. One thing to keep in mind is that missing practice might not be an issue, and we should be more concerned if he starts to miss games. Let’s not skip the fact that he is missing essential reps and opportunities to build chemistry with the new quarterbacks.
As a rookie, he posted 109 receptions, 1204 yards, and seven touchdowns in fifteen games for the Giants and was the focal point in that offense, catapulting him into the ranks as one of the league’s best wide receivers. Reports from joint practices with the New York Jets indicate that if Nabers is not on the field, the offense struggles to move the ball. The Giants did little in the off-season to address additional pass-catching support, and all signs indicate Nabers will be in line for another productive season. Adding veteran quarterbacks Russel Wilson and Jameis Winston, and drafting rookie Jaxson Dart, is an upgrade from last season’s Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, and Tommy DeVito.
The toe injury is something to continue monitoring moving forward, if more serious precautions are taken, but we should not be fading Nabers over it as he produced at an amazing rate last season, dealing with this issue.

The veteran QB put it plain and simple when he said “I came here because of him”, also calling the young WR special.
Russell Wilson recently revealed that one of the key factors behind his decision to join the New York Giants this offseason was the chance to play alongside Malik Nabers. Wilson had previously admitted he watched film on Nabers and is convinced (correctly) that he’s a ‘Superstar”. The veteran QB believes that with Nabers as his primary target, the pair could develop a potent on‑field connection, and lets face it, Nabers could be the best weapon Wilson has ever thrown to.
From a fantasy football standpoint, this pairing boosts Nabers’s value even higher for the 2025 season. After finishing as WR6 in fantasy last year with record breaking reception totals (109 receptions, 1,204 yards, 7 TDs), Nabers now benefits from Wilson’s experienced arm and proven chemistry with top receivers. While Wilson projections are all over the place, his presence should lead to an uptick in Nabers’s targets and big‑play opportunities – at the very least he should be better than any of the passers Nabers had last season.

The New York Giants sign Russell Wilson to a 1-year deal worth up to $21 million.
The New York Giants are taking a patchwork approach to the quarterback position this offseason. After signing Jameis Winston to a 2-year $8 million deal, the Giants have now signed Russell Wilson to a 1-year deal worth up to $21 million.
Based on the contract, the 10-time Pro Bowler will have an edge on Jameis Winston for starter status. The question now becomes, do the Giants select a quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft a month from now?
The move indicates that the Giants are unsure of whether or not their preferred quarterback will be available for their number 3 overall pick. The early favorites for the first 2 selections in the draft are quarterbacks Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders. While Jaxson Dart has gained 1st round draft buzz, the Giants may be inclined to avoid taking Dart by choosing a player at another position or trading back in the draft. In the meantime, the cork is going back in the bottles being popped from the Jameis Winston signing as it relates to Malik Nabers proverbial trip to the moon.
