After the recent news that the Eagles lost starting tight end Dallas Goedert to an MCL sprain, Philadelphia moved quickly to bring back a familiar face in 35-year-old Zach Ertz. Goedert is currently expected to miss a few weeks with the injury. Ertz spent eight seasons with the Eagles from 2013-21 before eventually spending the last two seasons with the Washington Commanders. The veteran tight end is also coming off a torn ACL that he suffered last December.
Ertz lands on the practice squad with the intent to push him up to the active roster. Goedert had an 11% target share through the first two weeks, so Ertz may not have an immediate fantasy impact even when he gets on the field. The Eagles also have Johnny Mundt and E.J. Jenkins on the active roster, while rookie Eli Stowers could potentially return from injured reserve as soon as Week 5. Dallas Goedert sustained an injury while blocking during the second quarter and has not yet returned
Eagles starting TE Dallas Goedert left the game early in the second quarter and was being examined by medical trainers for a potential knee injury and is officially questionable to return. Prior to leaving, Goedert had one catch on two targets for four yards.
Next up in the tight end pecking order is Johnny Mundt. With rookie second-round pick Eli Stowers currently on injured reserve, EJ Jenkins is the only other healthy option on the active roster. The nine-year NFL veteran Mundt is expected to handle the bulk of the snaps, Jenkins presents intriguing fantasy football upside if Dallas Goedert misses extended time. During his college career at Georgia Tech, Jenkins posted a 94th-percentile college dominator rating and a blazing 99th-percentile yards-per-reception (YPR) mark.
