Donovan Edwards Inks Deal With Jets
The New York Jets are signing former Michigan Wolverine ...
Michigan’s Donovan Edwards has an impressive Combine.
Running back Donovan Edwards out of Michigan raised his stock in this year’s NFL Draft with an impressive performance. He came in at 5’11” and weighed 205 pounds. Despite his rough performance in his senior year at Michigan, where he had only 589 yards and 4 touchdowns. He had good day at the NFL Combine running a 4.44 40-yard dash, which was tied for 9th fastest at the running back position. He did display his strength putting up 23 reps on the bench press, which led all running backs and even more than some lineman. He also looked good during on field workouts.
Although Edwards made it on the cover of NCAA College Football, his hype didn’t live up to his expectations during his Senior Season. However, his Combine performance make him for an interesting prospect and should get selected between round 3 and 5 in this year’s NFL Draft.

The New York Jets are signing former Michigan Wolverine ...
The former Michigan Wolverine running back stood out as a pass-catcher throughout drills at the Reese’s Senior Bowl, but that didn’t help his draft stock.
Donovan Edwards, part of the U of M Wolverine backfield tandem in 2024, stood out as a pass-catcher in drills at the Senior Bowl. Edwards also came away from the Senior Bowl two inches shorter– measuring in at 5’11”.
Edwards was the Wolverine’s leading pass-catcher out of the backfield, but only earned 22 targets across 13 games. Not only were the counting stats unfavorable for Edwards, but he earned a mediocre 0.56 yards per route run and a 41.1 Elusive Rating.
We could see Edwards land on the Los Angeles Chargers or Los Angeles Rams — two squads known for bringing in “program” running backs from Michigan or Notre Dame. However even with a Senior Bowl appearance, Edwards’ mock draft stock keeps plummeting, and now is not expected to be drafted in April’s rookie draft. To see a fantasy future for Edwards, he will need to flash an elite trait a the combine and resuscitate projected draft capital. In seven months, it’s most likely that Edwards is practice squad fodder.
