Tight End Brenton Strange is Ready for His Close-Up
3 weeks ago

As the new starting tight end for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Brenton Strange is eager to prove his value.

In an interview with John Oehser of Jaguars.com, tight end Brenton Strange expressed his preparedness to be the go-to option at the position now that Evan Engram has departed.

“I’m definitely ready for it… I have a lot of confidence in myself and I’ve always had a lot of confidence in myself. I feel like I’m always one of the best players on the field. I feel like that’s the mentality I bring.”

The Jaguars took Strange in the second round of the 2023 NFL draft, seemingly as the eventual replacement for the aging Engram. Last season, Strange caught 40 passes for 411 yards (10.3 yards-per-reception) and added two scores in starting 10 games. His performance in the passing game, as well as blocking for the rush, signified that he had already matured enough to make Engram expendable.

Strange finished 2024 third on the team in catches and second in receiving yards. He’ll enter training camp with no true competition at the position.
