Mixon Injury Clouds Week 1 Outlook, Chubb and Marks Trending Up

Texans RB Joe Mixon is expected to miss most, if not all, of training camp and the preseason due to lingering foot and ankle issues. According to Texans beat reporter Aaron Wilson, the injury dates back to last season and was aggravated during independent workouts this offseason. Mixon opened camp on the Non-Football Injury list and is being brought along slowly.

The team’s goal remains to have Mixon ready for Week 1 against the Rams, but his status is still uncertain and will be re-evaluated closer to the opener. While Mixon isn’t expected to take part in team activities any time soon, league sources have described his overall outlook as “positive,” with reports of steady progress since the injury.

With Dameon Pierce (strained quadriceps) also sidelined, Nick Chubb currently projects as the Texans’ lead back. Rookie Woody Marks could carve out a meaningful role, especially on passing downs. Fantasy managers should treat Mixon as questionable for the start of the season and adjust accordingly.
