Texans coach DeMeco Ryans was quoted saying its too early to put a timeline on Tank Dells return to play in 2025. It is still uncertain weather the 3rd year receiver will play.
Tank Dell suffered a severe dislocated knee injury which included an ACL tear on December 21st, 2024. Dell just received his first surgery to treat the injury on January 15th, with more surgeries expected on his long road to recovery. A ‘typical’ ACL tear carries a 9 to 12 month recovery timeline, which would put Dell’s potential return mid to late 2025 season at the earliest. Tank is also a receiver that relies heavily on his agility and shiftiness, which may be degraded even if he does return, as he continues to recover.
The Texans will almost certainly add talent to their receiving core, possibly through free agency and almost certainly in the upcoming NFL draft. At pick 25, there will be plenty of interesting pass catchers available. In Round 1 look for: Emeka Egbuka, Colston Loveland or Isaiah Bond. Round 2 may have talents such as: Jalen Royals, Tre Harris, Matthew Golden or Elic Ayomanor. And a few later round targets to look for: Tory Horton, Elijah Arroyo, or Jack Bech.
