Isaac Guerendo
San Francisco 49ers Draft Isaac Guerendo With 129th Pick
3 months ago

The San Francisco 49ers have selected running back Isaac Guerendo from the University of Louisville with the 129th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

After being buried in Wisconsin’s running back room, Isaac Guerendo transferred to Louisville and made himself known his senior season 810 yards (6.1 YPC) and 11 touchdowns. He also added 22 catches for 232 yards. Guerendo was a big time combine winner after absolutely lighting up every test thrown at him. He posted a 4.33 40-yard dash, a 41.5 inch vertical jump, and a 10’9” broad jump which was good enough for a relative athletic score of 9.98. Very impressive for his size at 6’0” and 221 pounds.

Guerendo now finds himself in a decent fantasy situation for a later pick. Yes, he is stuck behind Christian McCaffrey, but Elijah Mitchell is entering the last year of his deal and Guerendo should find himself as McCaffrey’s primary backup by 2025. Guerendo’s speed should pair well into the 49ers running scheme and we’ve seen how valuable that 49ers backup running back spot has been in the past. The 49ers also traded up for Guerendo showing he was a player they specifically sought out. You should have no reservations taking a shot at Guerendo in the later rounds of your rookie drafts and he would make a great taxi squad stash for a year.
