Sam Howell
Sam Howell Traded to Seahawks in Pick Swap Deal
4 months ago

Geno Smith has some competition coming his way with newly acquired Sam Howell joining the QB room in a pick swap deal with Commanders.

Sam Howell has been dealt to Seattle in a deal that almost guarantees the Commanders use their top NFL draft pick on a quarterback.
The Commanders received a 3rd (No.78) and 5th round pick (No.152) while giving up Howell, a 4th round pick (No.102), and a 6th (No.179) to the Seahawks.

This acquisition brings a young quarterback to the team and provides depth behind Geno Smith. Some may see this as a competition for Smith’s spot, while others may view it as simply adding depth, now that Drew Lock is in New York. Regardless, Sam Howell is young enough to learn from the veteran presence of Smith. Although his performance in Washington was inconsistent, with 3946 yards and 21 touchdowns, he also threw 21 interceptions and had a 4-13 record. Ultimately leading to Washington being able to move on from Howell more easily, locking up the #2 Overall pick in the draft and selecting an overall better prospect.
