Tank Bigsby Remains Poised for Bigger Role in Jacksonville
4 months ago

The Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator of the Jacksonville Jaguars have shared that 2nd year running back, Tank Bigsby, is set for a bigger role in 2024.

Jacksonville Jaguars Head Coach Doug Peterson expressed that getting 2nd year running back Tank Bigsby on the field is important to lighten lead back, Travis Etienne’s load. This was further supported by recent news that Offensive Coordinator Press Taylor shared a sentiment that he could’ve deployed Bigsby better in his rookie year. Bigsby had a disappointing rookie year after getting drafted in the 3rd round out of Auburn. He finished with 50 carries for 132 rushing yards, 2 touchdowns and 2 bad fumbles. The fumbles landed Bigsby in the doghouse for the whole season.

The Jaguars offense could stand to benefit from lightening Travis Etienne’s role. Etienne was boom or bust last season on a game to game basis. Tank Bigsby stepping up should keep Etienne fresh as the season progresses. Do not expect Bigbsy to take the load completely as Etienne has the explosiveness to take the ball to the house.

Bigbsy is a great handcuff for Etienne owners, but he won’t see more than 40% of the work load unless an injury takes Etienne down. Etienne still deserves majority of the touches as the more efficient and explosive running back. Fantasy managers should explore opportunities to “buy low” on Etienne amidst the offseason jabber.
