Najee Harris to Begin Training Camp on NFI

The Chargers RB is seeing a specialist for his eye and has a chance to start the regular season pending treatments

Los Angeles Chargers running back Najee Harris will open training camp on the Non-Football Injury (NFI) list as he seeks treatment from a specialist for an eye issue. While we still don’t have all the details, early reports show that the injury was not as bad as it could have been. Harris has a shot of avoiding the reserve/NFI list to start the season, otherwise he would miss at least the first 4 games.

From a fantasy football standpoint, Harris’ uncertain health status creates early-season risk for managers who were already eyeing him as a later round RB depth piece. The injury also creates an opening for rookie Omarion Hampton, who was previously predicted to ease into the backfield as the season progresses. Fantasy managers should keep a close eye on training camp updates, as Hampton could quickly become stud RB if given the reigns from the start. Harris also could have plenty of values late in drafts, especially in best ball.
