The Seahawks are hiring defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald from the Baltimore Ravens.
The Pete Carroll Era has officially closed and the Seahawks are going from one of the oldest Head Coaches in Pete Carroll (72) to one of the youngest in Mike Macdonald. (36)
The Ravens’ unit was one of the top units in the NFL this season defensively. This season under Macdonald, the Ravens’ defense ranked first in sacks (60), first in fewest points allowed (16.5 per game), and sixth in yards allowed.
Macdonald has achieved great success and as a result, he has been offered the position of head coach in Seattle. Although the deal is still being negotiated, it is a done deal as any. Macdonald will be appointed as the head coach for Seattle in 2024. It will be interesting to see if Macdonald can bring back the glory years of the “Legion on Boom” in Seattle and continue his defensive success as a NFL head coach.
