The Miami Dolphins announced on their X account that they are releasing veteran Running Back, Raheem Mostert ahead of free agency.
This announcement leaves De’Von Achane and Jaylen Wright as the only two running backs on Miami’s roster. While the Dolphins will certainly add more bodies through free agency and the draft, this is welcome news for Jaylen Wright dynasty managers who are hoping he can carve out a more substantial role in 2025. This also clears the way for Achane to be the clear lead back and see increased usage.
Mostert has struggled with injuries throughout his career, including last season. Whether it was his age, poor blocking, or being dinged up, his career low 3.2 yards per carry in 2024 is certainly concerning. Still, Mostert boasts supreme speed and athleticism, that when healthy behind a good O-line, can allow him to be an incredibly explosive playmaker.
Expect Mostert to draw interest from several running back needy teams this offseason. In a best case scenario, he could end up as a potential rotational back for a team like the Denver Broncos. In a worst case scenario, he could reunite with a team like San Francisco as a reserve option behind a star like Christian McCaffrey. Regardless, Mostert’s fantasy value is dwindling and it’s a near certainty that his best days are behind him.
