Kirk Cousins
Kirk Cousins Absent from Atlanta OTAs

After previously reporting for offseason team functions, the Falcons veteran QB is now choosing to sit out of voluntary activities.

Kirk Cousins may be positioning himself for a trade, as the Falcons are likely to ask him to sit and back up second year Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. Cousins recent contract extension with Atlanta came at an awkward time, he signed a 4 year deal just before the team drafted the quarterback of the (near) future. Cousins now has $37.5 million left in guaranteed money on that contract, making it difficult for Atalnta to trade him without the team absorbing some, if not most, of that cost.

Potential trade partners with Atlanta are pretty thin, the teams with the most obvious needs are the Saints after Derek Carrs retirement, The Steelers, who have been losing steam in courting Aaron Rodgers, and the Browns – who have a shaky QB room and a connection to Cousins via Coach Stefanski. None of these teams are really strong destinations for an aging quarterback who’s production absolutely plummeted last year, making Cousins a fade in any fantasy format this year.
