Kalel Mullings
Kalel Mullings: 2025 NFL Draft Prospect and Senior Bowl Preview
1 week ago

Michigan Wolverines Senior Running Back Kalel Mullings has accepted an invite to the Senior Bowl and has declared for the 2025 NFL Draft.

After Blake Corum moved on to the NFL, many expected Donovan Edwards to step up as the Wolverines top back. Instead, Kalel Mullings took that spot week 1 and never let go. Side Note: Mullings outperformed Blake Corum on a per touch basis in 2023.  Mullings finished his final year at Ann Arbor with 185 carries for 948 yards and 12 touchdowns. He put together some quality games on a Michigan team that took a major step back this season — capping the year off with a 116 yard performance against the nation’s top ranked OSU defense.

At 6’2’ and 233 lbs, Mullings will be one of the bigger backs in this draft class. For a physical back, he demonstrated an ability to navigate running lanes and showcased good contact balance. He runs with patience and vision, and then has the size and strength to push through defenders to gain extra yards to finish drives. Mullings has great feet for a big back, he can make some high quality cuts that lead to big runs when he does burst into the second level. While he isn’t likely to post eye-popping 40 times, he was clocked at an impressive 20.1 miles per hour on his long run against USC. I’ll be watching Kalel Mullings to showcase his skills on an even playing field in Mobile, and I won’t be surprised if he really helps his draft stock with a strong performance this weekend. I also won’t be surprised if he is one of the many talented backs that gets lost in what looks like a historic draft year at the position.
