Justin Fields
Justin Fields to the Jets

The New York Jets and Justin Fields have agreed on a two-year $40 million deal, with $30 million guaranteed.

The Jets are Fields’ third NFL team after his one-year stint in Pittsburgh. The 26-year-old started six games for the Steelers in 2024, completing almost 69 percent of his passes for 1106 yards, 5 touchdowns, and 1 pick. He added 289 yards on the ground and 5 rushing scores.

Taking care of the ball appeared to be the team’s primary focus for Fields, whose 10:1 touchdown-to-turnover ratio led them to a 4-2 record. Fields appeared poised leading Pittsburgh’s offense but was unable to generate explosive plays through the air, and the team only averaged 20 PPG.

The Jets having a bad team with a struggling offense shouldn’t dissuade fantasy owners from feeling overall optimism regarding this landing spot. New York provides Fields with a starting job next season and a chance to prove himself long term.

Personally, I’m not sure how much faith I have in Fields’ ability to turn the Jets around, but any starting quarterback is valuable in superflex leagues. Fields is still young and provides elite rushing upside for fantasy. Owners might at least be able to fetch some value for him now that he’s a starter if they decide to trade him now or during the season.
