The Texans have leaned on their newly acquired running back as the offense struggles through injuries.
The Houston Texans are 12th in rush attempts on the year and 5th after Nico Collins went down. Joe Mixon is thriving as the heartbeat of the offense, posting a career high 21.4 points per game (ppr), good for 3rd best in the NFL. Mixon has over 100 total yards and a touchdown in all but his week 2 tilt against Chicago, a trend that is likely to continue week 10 at home vs the Lions.
The Lions have a top 7 rush defense in yards allowed this season, however they do give up 4.8 yards per carry, good for 6th worse. Teams have had to abandon the run early and often to keep up with the Lions league leading 32.3 points per game (38.5 last 4), however those who commit have seen success. Aaron Jones went over 100 total yards and a Touchdown and Ken Walker on similar yardage scored a hat trick.
Look for Houston to keep Mixon heavily involved this week whether Nico Collins is ready to return or not.
