Cincinnati Bengals star Quarteback Joe Burrow aggravated a calf injury in the week 2 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
Burrow strained his calf on August 5th, he returned to practice before week 1 and played despite some (Ja’Marr Chase) wishing he did not. Burrow played poorly week 1 at Cleveland , he struggled to push the ball downfield in poor weather and there was speculation the calf strain was still bothering him. In Week 2 Burrow and the Bengals offense sputtered early on, and it looked like it could be a repeat of week 1. Fortunately, Burrow was able to pull it together and throw for a couple scores while making star WR Tee Higgins relevant again after his 0 point dud week 1. Unfortunately for the Bengals Burrows play was not good enough to get the W and his play continued to limit super star WR Jamar Chase who finished with under 10 PPR points in back to back weeks.
Head Coach Zac Taylor told reporters on Monday that it is hard to say whether Burrow will be ready to play week 3 Monday night Vs the surprisingly competitive Rams. After an 0-2 start to the year and down 2 games within the AFC North the Bengals not having Burrow Monday night would be detrimental to the team.
The fantasy outlooks of the Bengals O as a whole will be capped if Burrow were to miss time. Though with the way he has played through 2 weeks it might be best to heed superstar WR Jamar Chase advise and take the time needed to get right. The short term outlook on the Bengals O is overwhelmingly negative, but when it matters most this team with a healthy Burrow will be one of the best in the NFL again. Chase, Higgins, and Mixon are screaming buys in fantasy if Burrow misses time. Take the risk and reap the rewards later.
