The Los Angeles Rams and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo have agreed on a 1-year deal.
Jimmy Garoppolo’s time in Las Vegas was short. The veteran QB lasted all of a year. It wasn’t a good year either. Garoppolo was the chosen arm for Josh McDaniels and his singular vision of how his playbook should be run. Garoppolo didn’t play very well and then was injured, giving way to 4th round rookie Aidan O’Connell. O’Connell played well enough to earn the fan support required for McDaniels’ ouster, and Garoppolo was benched.
Garoppolo may have been in the Raiders’ plans to enter 2024 as a backup, but then he tested positive under the NFL’s “Performance Enhancing Drug” policy. That presented Las Vegas with the opportunity to release Garoppolo and use the $11 million owed to him in other ways. After being “The Chosen One” under one regime, Jimmy G was cast aside by the next. He will now serve as the backup to Rams starter Matthew Stafford.
