Wide receiver Garrett Wilson inks $130M deal to stay with the Jets.
The Jets made Garrett Wilson one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the NFL, agreeing to a four-year, $130 million extension with a whopping $90 million guaranteed, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The deal makes Wilson the first WR to average over $30 million per year after just three NFL seasons, placing him fifth in average annual salary – nestled between DK Metcalf and A.J. Brown.
Now entering his age-25 season, Wilson opened his career with three straight 1,000-yard seasons, averaging 156 targets per year while never missing a game. His volume has been elite from the jump – but the efficiency hasn’t followed. He’s posted negative fantasy points over expectation (FPOE) in all three seasons, though 2024 marked his most efficient campaign to date, finishing as the WR18 in PPR points per game.
Subpar quarterback play has largely limited Wilson’s ceiling. He never clicked with Aaron Rodgers, with reports suggesting Rodgers grew frustrated with Wilson’s improvisational style. Now with Davante Adams off to Los Angeles, Wilson projects as the clear No. 1 target in a run-heavy Jets offense, catching passes from Justin Fields – his former Ohio State teammate. While the reunion may bring some chemistry, Fields is unlikely to unlock Wilson’s ceiling as a fantasy star.
Currently going as the WR16 on Underdog (Round 3 ADP), Wilson remains a high-floor, low-ceiling fantasy pick – buoyed by elite usage and durability, but weighed down by ongoing efficiency issues. That said, a 30% target share is well within reach in 2025.
