Jalen Milroe Looking Like a Possible 1st-Round Pick
1 week ago

Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe has officially accepted an invitation to attend the 2025 NFL Draft in person, per Dane Brugler.

For some, it’ll seem premature to take such a leap from a prospect simply attending the NFL Draft to them being a possible first-round selection. But diehard fans and draft pundits alike recognize the significance of a prospect attending this event. Prospects simply don’t attend the NFL Draft if they don’t have firm reason to believe they’ll be a first-round pick, whether it comes via intel collected by their management or sheer confidence.

If a prospect attends the draft but isn’t selected in the first round, it could be an embarrassing moment. For example, Titans quarterback Will Levis attended the 2023 NFL Draft but wasn’t selected in the first round. Television broadcasts continuously aired footage of Levis growing tense throughout the night and he instantly received substantial disrespect in the media. To avoid another Levis situation, Milroe must have reasons to believe his name will be announced on April 24.

Milroe is one of the most polarizing prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft, and this rumor only fuels the flames. Milroe’s ability to lead a winning organization and overpower respected defenses with his legs is undoubted. He boasts a 21-6 record after two seasons as the Crimson Tide’s starting quarterback, totaling 32 rushing touchdowns and showcasing a sub-4.4 second 40-yard dash at Alabama’s pro day. Milroe’s shortcomings as a pocket passer cause considerable concern for his future outlook. It’s a near-unanimous opinion that Milroe has accuracy issues, among other flaws as a passer. He won’t be able to succeed on sheer athleticism in the NFL, so it’s a question of “if” and “how much” he can develop. The sky is the limit for Milroe, though the floor is nonexistent.
