Jahan Dotson Traded to Eagles

Jahan Dotson has been traded to the Eagles with a 5th round pick in exchange for a 3rd round pick and two 7th round picks.

The Washington Commanders’ trade of Jahan Dotson to the Philadelphia Eagles indicates a major strategic shift. With Dotson out, the Commanders will likely lean more 0n tight ends Ben Sinnott and Zach Ertz, possibly implementing more two-tight end sets. Luke McCaffrey is expected to gain significant playing time later in the season, and Dyami Brown, a 2021 third-round pick, should see increased opportunities, making him a strong late-round target. This move highlights the coaching staff’s lack of confidence in Dotson and their belief in rookie Jayden Daniels to handle last minute changes before the season.

For the Eagles, Dotson’s acquisition strengthens their depth at the third wide receiver position, enhancing an already formidable offense led by Jalen Hurts and new coordinator Kellen Moore. Dotson’s presence slightly diminishes the upside of A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert as their target shares may not spike as much if one is injured, due to increased competition and more RB usage with Saquon Barkley. Despite this, Hurts remains a valuable fantasy pick, now available two rounds later than last year due to decreased quarterback demand.
