Jacoby Brissett will get his chance to start in week 17 for the Commanders in the place of Sam Howell.
After throwing eight interceptions in his last five games Sam Howell has been benched by head coach Ron Rivera. Jacoby Brissett will start for Washington in week 17 after finding success in multiple relief appearances. This will come as a surprise for many fantasy managers with Sam Howell currently sitting as the QB10 in fantasy football leagues. However, much of that production came on volume as he has struggled with decision-making.
After looking like Washington’s potential franchise quarterback, The Commanders’ will almost certainly be looking in a different direction in 2023. They currently are projected to have the No.3 pick in the NFL draft, giving them a great opportunity to select a talented quarterback. Either way, they will certainly bring in competition leaving Howell as the likely backup.
Unfortunately for fantasy managers this weekend Brissett will face off against the 49ers making him only a desperation superflex option. However, this does spell good news for Terry McLaurin. McLaurin struggled to get on the same page as Howell, but has a clear lead in target share with Brissett on the field the last two weeks. Look for McLaurin to be a solid WR2 in fantasy football championships this weekend.
