Jacoby Brissett Agrees to Terms With the Patriots
4 months ago

The New England Patriots have agreed to terms with quarterback Jacoby Brissett.

After trading away Mac Jones, the Patriots have decided to bring back a familiar face and signed Jacoby Brissett to a one-year $8 million deal. Brissett was a rookie the last time he played for the Patriots. Since 2016, Brissett has played for four teams with the majority of his time playing for the Colts.

During that span, Brissett had three seasons where he threw for over 2,600 yards and had double-digit touchdowns. For his career across five teams, the veteran quarterback has tallied up 10,574 passing yards, 915 rushing yards, 66 total touchdowns, and 23 interceptions. Last season,  Brissett was mainly a back-up for the Commanders only appearing in three games.

Looking ahead to the Fall, Brissett should fill the need for a stop-gap quarterback for the Patriots. With New England surely addressing their quarterback needs with the third-overall pick in the NFL draft next month, Brissett could be a great mentor and bridge until the rookie quarterback is ready. Brissett should only be acquired in deep two-quarterback and super-flex leagues, as he only has Bailey Zappe standing in his way for being the starter heading into off-season training activities.
