Kamari Lassiter
Houston Texans Draft Kamari Lassiter with the 42nd Overall Pick

The two-time national champion provides much-needed insurance at cornerback for DeMeco Ryans’ squad.

With the 42nd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans have selected cornerback Kamari Lassiter out of the University of Georgia. Having won back-to-back national championships in 2021 and 2022 and yielded the fewest passing yards in coverage (136) of any corner in the nation this past season, the second-team All-SEC standout is ready to make an impact in H-Town.

Although there aren’t many high-level concerns for Kamari Lassiter — he started every possible game over the past two seasons for one of the nation’s premier programs — his below-average athleticism limits his ceiling tremendously. Furthermore, at just 5’11,” 186 pounds, Lassiter might struggle out of the gate against bigger, more physical wide receivers at the NFL level.

Despite the mild concerns, though, Lassiter projects to be at least an average starter in the NFL, whether that be in year one or down the road. It’s tough to imagine him as any more than a shot in the dark in dynasty formats with an IDP slot, but there are certainly worse options. Still, though, until Lassiter proves himself as a fixture on an NFL roster, he can pretty much be ignored in the fantasy circuit.
