The Kansas City Chiefs have signed Gardner Minshew to a one-year deal as Patrick Mahomes’ backup. Minshew started 10 games for the Raiders in 2024, passing for 2,013 yards, nine touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. Minshew brings solid experience to the Chiefs.

For fantasy football, Minshew’s value is limited unless Mahomes is injured. He could be a decent option in superflex leagues, but the Chiefs will hope to keep him on the bench. If Minshew has to start, it likely means bad news for Mahomes’ health, and while he can fill in, he doesn’t offer the same fantasy upside.
