There’s no way around it- Deebo Samuel had a brutal 2024 season and massively underperformed relative to expectations. Outside of the 2020 season in which he only played 7 games, he set career lows in nearly every category. Perhaps what was most concerining was his rushing production, as he fell from 6 yards per carry last year all the way to 3.2 in 2024. It was clear by the end of the year that the 49ers didn’t see value in involving him in their rushing attack, even with their depleted running back room.

San Francisco GM, John Lynch, recently stated that he expects Deebo to return for the 49ers in 2025. This should be taken with a grain of salt at this point, as the most likely scenario for Deebo’s return would involve both sides agreeing to a restructured contract. It’s entirely possible Deebo is no longer a 49er in 2025 and struggles to find a team that will guarantee him a featured role in their offense after his lackluster 2024 performance.

Fantasy Managers should consider moving on from Deebo now while his name value still warrants a solid return. The uncertainty this offseason brings will likely only continue to chip away at his dynasty value.
