New England Patriots head coach (HC) Jerod Mayo advises not to look into Drake Maye taking second-quarterback reps so far in OTAs.
Although Drake Maye is currently taking second-quarterback reps, HC Jerod Mayo also mentioned that there are no depth charts at the moment. During the offseason, the Patriots signed veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett after trading Mac Jones to the Jaguars. Brissett seems to be the leader heading into camp.
With their eyes on the future, the Patriots selected Maye third overall in the NFL Draft. Maye comes into the league after a productive couple of seasons with North Carolina. The former Tarheel threw for almost 8,000 yards, 62 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions during that stretch. What makes Maye more intriguing is what he accomplished on the ground. Maye rushed 296 times for 1,147 yards and 16 touchdowns.
In redraft leagues, Maye is an afterthought for now since he has not been named the starter yet and will probably not get drafted in most leagues. In dynasty leagues, it is an entirely different story. In single quarterback dynasty leagues Maye will be drafted in the second round of rookie drafts. However, in two-quarterback and super flex dynasty leagues, he is sure to go in the latter half of the first round.
