The Steelers TE suffered a torn Achilles during OTAs and is likely to miss the upcoming season.
Terrible news for Donald Parham, the undrafted veteran is entering his 5th season in the NFL and was on track to secure a backup TE role for the Steelers, behind Pat Freirmuth. Parham was an athletic prospect that had a tall but lean build, known for his contested catches and threat in the Red Zone, he has caught quite a few touchdowns in his career considering his limited route participation.
The injury has re-opened trade talks between the Steelers and the Miami Dolphins for late breakout Jonnu Smith. Smith ranked 4th in fantasy at the position last season, and if he ends up in Pittsburg he would be reunited with Arthur Smith, who arguably was the coach that finally unlocked Jonnu late in his career. Pittsburgh is not a great situation for any Tight End that ends up replacing Parham’s snaps this year, the team faces quarterback uncertainty and is supporting from a lack of offensive firepower – not to mention that incumbent starter Pat Freirmuth will be heavily involved in the rotation regardless.
