The Minnesota Vikings waived seventh-round rookie RB DeWayne McBride

DeWayne McBride, the Minnesota Vikings’ 2023 seventh-round pick is the first player from this year’s draft class to be cut. The 215 lb. running back was contending for backup duties in the Land Of 1,000 Lakes after a stellar 1,713 rushing yard season at UAB. The Vikings said they plan to keep him on the practice squad if he clears waivers.

McBride was a very popular last-round contingency plan for Alexander Mattison drafters, who should now be looking to Ty Chandler and Kene Nwangwu as the primary handcuffs in Minnesota. Dynasty managers shouldn’t burn those McBride shares just yet. There are a few teams with a deficiency of ball-carrying talent between the tackles that might be interested in acquiring his services.
