Miami’s top running back will hope to recover in time for the Dolphins’ Week 7 matchup against the Colts.
After being down on the field for several minutes following a hit from New England Patriots safety Jaylinn Hawkins, Miami Dolphins running back De’Von Achane was later ruled out with a concussion. Following the on-field incident, Achane was initially taken to the blue medical tent before being escorted by trainers to the locker room — where he remained for the duration of the game. While the immediacy of the diagnosis signals the likely severity of the concussion, Miami’s Week 6 bye gives Achane ample time to get ready for the Dolphins’ next game in two weeks.
Going into Week 5, Achane had established himself as one of the top running backs in fantasy football despite the absence of Tua Tagovailoa. If the second-year running back misses significant time, expect Raheem Mostert — who just returned from an injury of his own — to lead the Miami backfield. Rookie Jaylen Wright out of Tennessee also showed flashes on Sunday and figures to split carries with Mostert to some extent. Both players can be considered fringe FLEX options for the time being, as Miami’s offense continues to be extremely limited without Tagovailoa.
