Is Dak Prescott Still a QB1? Health Update Sparks 2025 Fantasy Debate

Dak Prescott says he could suit up and play today if needed, as he continues to recover from the hamstring injury that ended his 2024 season. He’s been focused on rebuilding lower-body strength and improving mobility, which he considers vital to his game. While he’s not putting a percentage on his recovery, Prescott expects to participate in offseason team activities and be fully ready by Week 1.

From a fantasy football perspective, Prescott remains a mid-to-low-end QB1 with upside if everything clicks. The Cowboys offense will be under new leadership with Brian Schottenheimer at head coach, which adds an element of unpredictability. Prescott’s reduced rushing output in recent years, especially after the ankle injury, may continue in 2025, making it unlikely he returns to top-tier dual-threat form. That said, a fully healthy Prescott with CeeDee Lamb still in town and contract restructures creating cap space for more support could bring sneaky value in drafts. He won’t cost much in redraft or best ball formats, and if Dallas leans into more tempo or pass volume under the new regime, Dak could easily outperform his ADP.
