Chris Olave Dealing With a Shoulder Injury
1 month ago

The Saints stud wide receiver has been practicing in full while wearing a no contact jersey after injuring himself in the weight room.

Matthew Paras reported on X that Chris Olave hurt his shoulder while working out in the weight room. Paras noted that Olave practiced in full during OTAs, however it was in a no contact jersey. No confirmation has been made on whether or not the injury is a holdover from carrying Derek Carr as his quarterback last year.

The Saints alpha wide receiver is looking to make a leap into the tier of young, first round receivers such as Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, and CeeDee Lamb, however a Saints offense that stalled in the red zone one too many times last season has not helped matters up to this point. Last year Olave was the WR-16 overall.

For Chris Olave, this season is a fresh opportunity with Klint Kubiak implementing more pre-snap motion while giving new looks in both the running and passing game. In 2023, Olave was 6th in air yards with 1,834 and 4th in deep targets with 32. More conversions in the deep passing game and an influx of touchdowns greater than the 5 he had last year will catapult him into the round 1 conversation next year.

Currently, Chris Olave is going as the 11th wide receiver on UnderDog in the 2nd round and is 10th in our Dynasty wide receiver rankings. This shoulder injury is something to monitor, however Chris Olave continues to be an excellent click at his current ADP.
