The 49ers GM John Lynch dropped some positive comments about Brock Purdy showing up to voluntary team exercises , noting that they are looking forward to retaining him for a long time
Despite some media commentary alluding to a holdout, Brock Purdy showed up to the 49ers voluntary offseason conditioning ready to take care of business. Going into his 4th and last year of his very cheap rookie deal, Purdy and the team are looking to secure a new contract that will more accurately reflect his contribution to the team and secure a critical position for the 49ers. Purdy finished as a top 10 quarterback in fantasy in his last 2 seasons, despite being compensated less than most backup QB’s in the league.
The Brock Purdy contract negotiations may be putting a damper on George Kittle’s outlook, the veteran superstar Tight End chose to sit out of voluntary activities in a statement to the team. Kittle is entering the last year of his 5 year contract and will be turning 32 this season, possibly creating friction between what Kittle believes he is worth and what the team is willing to invest in a player entering the twilight of his career – particularly after the monopoly money of not paying market prices for a top 10 QB is off their books.
