Jacoby Brissett remains in the lead as Patriots Day 1 starter.
New England Patriots first year head coach has come out and made it very clear that they are playing the long game with their approach to their 2024 1st round selection of Drake Maye. Mayo has reiterated that Brissett remains “the most pro ready guy they have” and it is looking like he will be the opening day starter. The 31 year old who was first selected by the Patriots in 2016 has performed admirably in fill in duty multiple times, first with Tom Brady, then in relief of Andrew Luck with the Colts and Deshaun Watson in Cleveland. Brissett also has familiarity with offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt from their days in Cleveland together.
Brissett has proven to be a solid yet unspectacular option as a starter. He is a stabilizing force for Pats receiving options, and could provide bumps in value as a seasoned vet who knows how to distribute the ball. He will not be rostered in any 1 QB formats, but is an absolutely great stash in any multi QB formats as a low end QB2.
