Quarterback Kurtis Rourke, formerly of the Indiana Hoosiers, was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the seventh round (Pick 227) of the 2025 NFL Draft. Standing 6’4″ and weighing 220 pounds, Rourke is known for his impressive pocket presence, quick release, and accuracy on intermediate throws. In 2024, he threw for 3,042 yards, 29 touchdowns, and just five interceptions, leading Indiana to an 11-2 record. Remarkably, he achieved this while playing through a torn ACL, showcasing his toughness.
Rourke’s selection by the 49ers adds depth to their quarterback room. While Rourke is unlikely to see significant playing time in the immediate future, his development under head coach Kyle Shanahan’s system could be beneficial. His strong football IQ and ability to execute quick, timing-based throws align well with Shanahan’s offensive.
