The Infirmary Report: Post Week 8

by Jason Allwine, October 31, 2022

The worst part of our beloved game is the frequency of injuries. It’s an unfortunate byproduct of such a fast-paced, contact-heavy sport. It’s something that is important to remember as we approach the first full week of the preseason. Luckily for the NFL players, they have access to some of the best doctors in the world and can usually return to form at least by the next season. Unfortunately for us fantasy players, it’s not always easy to know when a player will get hurt. To another degree, sometimes your roster isn’t big enough to plan ahead for an injury. This series, the Infirmary Report, will give you advice on the injuries that have happened every week during the season. Without further ado, here is the Infirmary Report: Post Week 8 of regular season action.

Week 8 MNF Showdown: Bengals vs Browns

by Dookie Hogue, October 31, 2022

Possibly the best spot from this game lies in the Bengals rushing attack led by Joe Mixon. The Browns have hemorrhaged fantasy points to enemy running backs this season. Their 23.9 Fantasy Points Allowed per game average is No. 4 most in the NFL.

Betting the Spread: NFL Week 8 – We’re Back Again

by Shervon Fakhimi, October 29, 2022

Here’s the good news: we had another winning week! That makes three of the last four weeks victorious against Las Vegas. That’s awesome! The bad news is, we only went 7-6 again. We’re still below .500 for the season at 44-55-2. But we’re making progress, and that’s all that matters here. All we’re trying to do here is win bets and fantasy matchups. We’re in the thick of the NFL season now. We should know by now which teams are good, which ones aren’t, and what these teams’ tendencies are. This should help us not only hit more bets but also find out who is poised for big fantasy performances. I feel like we’re about to make a big push here. Let’s get Week 8 rolling!

by Connor Donald, October 28, 2022

Believe it or not, we are a third of the way through the 2022/23 NFL season. And there is likely no more surprising division than the NFC East. They currently have the most teams in a division above .500. Bet you didn’t see that coming from the NFC “Least”.

The Pace of Play Report: Week 7 – Etienne Warp Speed

by Neil Dutton, October 27, 2022

The Jacksonville Jaguars increased their place of play in Weeks 6 to 7 from 2.043 to 2.105. This was one of the biggest jumps in pace across the league last week. This usage seems to coincide with their turning their backfield over to Travis Etienne. Etienne played on 81.8-percent of the Jaguars’ snaps in their Week 7 loss to the Giants. He is the unquestionable lead back now with James Robinson now in New York as a member of the Jets.

Week 8 TNF Showdown: Ravens at Buccaneers

by Matt Babich, October 27, 2022

After a scorching start to the season, Lamar Jackson’s production took a nosedive. To put his poor performance into the appropriate context, Jackson has averaged fewer Fantasy Points per Game than Marcus Mariota since Week 4 (14.68 to 14.80 FPPG, respectively). Talk about a spooky season. The advanced metrics will tell you he’s playing well, and he is, but the Raven’s offense has been uncharacteristically sluggish. After losing their second straight game, this team needs a spark, and they’ll find it tonight. Tampa Bay wields a near league-worst red zone defense, which will give Jackson ample opportunity to find the endzone.

Week 7 MNF Showdown: Bears vs Patriots

by Dookie Hogue, October 24, 2022

The Bears pass defense has looked good on paper because their rush defense is a sieve. The Bears’ defense ranks last in the league in Rushing Attempts (157) and Rushing Yards Allowed (737). Their lofty 21.2 Fantasy Points Allowed is No. 5 worst.

The Bears have been giving to opposing D/STs, allowing top 7 performances in three of their past four games. The Patriots rank No. 10 in Sack Rate (7.3-percent) and have recorded fantasy finishes of No. 5 or better in three straight weeks.
