The veteran free-agent tight end has stated that he will not seek a new contract from the Browns and will test the market this offseason.
“Oh thats already gone, I’m gone.” is a quote from David Njoku when asked about his future with the Cleveland Browns. The nine-year vet who has spent his entire career with the Browns will be in search of a new home when free agency opens on March 11th. Njoku recorded 33 receptions for 293 yards and four touchdowns this season.
The former first-round selection has always been praised for his physical abilities, but playing for the Browns in a run-heavy scheme has arguably capped his fantasy ceiling. Finishing as a top-10 tight end three times, many had Njoku pegged as a massive value heading into the 2025 season, serving as the safety net for rookie quarterbacks Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. Injuries and the emergence of rookie Harold Fannin Jr had Chief lost in the shuffle. If he does backtrack on his comments and re-signs with the Browns, he would likely operate as the backup to Fannin once again in 2026. Njoku would be a sought-after player in free agency, as many teams are in need of a tight end. A new home could rejuvenate his career and fantasy output.
