Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt are currently ahead of schedule in their recoveries, with both players aiming to be fully prepared for the start of training camp. Slater is working back from a ruptured patellar tendon, while Alt is healing from recurring high-ankle sprains that prematurely ended his 2025 season.
Although their progress is encouraging, the team is prioritizing a patient approach to ensure neither tackle is rushed back before they are ready. Their return will be a massive fantasy catalyst for Justin Herbert, who was a fantasy QB1 last year despite playing behind a line lacking its Pro Bowl anchors for most of the season. Slater and Alts return reinforces Omarion Hampton as a premier breakout candidate after flashing true bell-cow usage (17.3 touches per game) as a rookie before his year was derailed by his own ankle issues.

Keaton Mitchell’s two-year, $9.3 million deal pairs an explosive runner (5.8 YPC) with Mike McDaniel’s system, drawing favorable comparisons to the highly efficient De’Von Achane. Though Omarion Hampton is slated to lead the backfield, Mitchell is expected to see enough specialized touches to provide flex value in what should be a run-heavy Chargers offense. While Keaton starts as a change-of-pace option, his elite efficiency gives him legitimate Top-20 fantasy RB upside if Hampton faces further injury setbacks in 2026.
With Omarion Hampton healthy, the Chargers now find themselves with a two-headed backfield. The second-year running back, Kimani Vidal, had delivered four top ten weekly finishes in Hampton’s absence, and the running back usage will be something for fantasy managers to monitor moving forward in our playoff schedule.
Chargers OC Greg Roman frequently used the term “hot hand” when referring to the usage of his running backs. Hampton should find his workload ramping back up as he showed why he was selected 22nd overall this spring, recording 294 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns in the weeks before his injuries. Hampton had 13 carries and two receptions, opposed to Vidal’s 14 carries and three catches in the Week 14 win over the Eagles.

The Los Angeles Chargers defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 22-19 and Omarion Hampton provided a spark in his return from injured reserve. Hampton caught a touchdown pass early in the game, while also carrying 13 times for 56 yards.
Hampton did split the backfield evenly with Kimani Vidal, who had 14 carries for 44 yards and a big 60 yard catch on the first drive. Justin Herbert completed only 12 passes for just 139 yards, one score and one interception. Herbert did lead the team in rushing yards with 66 yards.
It was a good sign to see Hampton get as much work as he did in his return, expect Vidal to still have a role but both can be effective as a running back two or flex option for fantasy managers.

After missing seven games with an ankle injury, reports have come out that Omarion Hampton will be returning to the lineup for Week 14 to face the Eagles, who just allowed over 250 rushing yards to the Bears in Week 13.
With the return of Hampton and the emergence of Kimani Vidal, this could be a potent one-two punch for the Chargers moving forward, and they may need it as starting quarterback Justin Herbert deals with a fracture in his left hand. The snap share will be something to monitor with fantasy playoffs approaching. So far in his rookie campaign, Hampton has lived up to the hype of being selected 22nd overall, recording 314 yards and two touchdowns on 66 carries while adding 20 receptions for 136 yards.

It has come out that Chargers rookie running back Omarion Hampton suffered a left ankle fracture Week 5 vs. the Washington Commanders. Hampton had recently begun football activities in early November to ramp up to return.
While fantasy managers will have to wait at least another week for Hampton’s return, it will be that much more rewarding when he is back in action. For fantasy teams that are still in contention, getting Hampton back cannot happen soon enough.
