Dallas Cowboys Dominate NY Jets

The Dallas Cowboys handed the NY Jets their 5th straight loss with a convincing 35-22 win on Sunday.

No Ceedee Lamb, no problem. It’s a next man up mentality for the offense as the Dallas Cowboys got back into the win column after a tie in week 4 vs the Green Bay Packers.

Dak Prescott finished 18 of 29 for 237 yards and four touchdowns behind an offensive line decimated by injuries. Javonte Williams had another productive day, recording 135 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries while catching a four-yard touchdown pass. Second-year wide receiver Ryan Flournoy had the biggest day of his career, finishing with six receptions for 114 yards, and George Pickens had two receptions for 57 yards and a touchdown. Jake Ferguson is flourishing this season. He finished the game with seven receptions for 49 yards and two touchdowns. He has finished as a top-five tight end in four of the five weeks played, and with 41 receptions, he becomes only the fourth tight end to have more than 40 catches in a team’s first five games.

The Cowboys will play the Carolina Panthers in Week 6 and look to keep their high-powered offense rolling.

Jake Ferguson Extended

The Dallas Cowboys and TE Jake Ferguson have agreed to a 4-year contract extension.

Jake Ferguson broke out in a big way in 2023, with a 71-761-5 receiving line on 102 targets. In 2024, however, Ferguson was limited to 14 games, and left early from another– limiting him to a 59-494-0 line on 86 targets.

Ferguson replaced TE Dalton Schultz, who signed with the Houston Texans two years ago. Despite Luke Schoonmacher being drafted in RD2 in 2024, the contract extension signals organizational confidence that Ferguson, 26, will be the long-term Dallas TE.

Ferguson profiles as a solid TE2 in both redraft and dynasty leagues. Now the 7th highest-paid TE in the NFL, expect Ferguson to be the 3rd target earner on Dallas behind CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens.

Jake Ferguson Primed for a Productive 2025
4 months ago

ZERO TDs on 86 targets in 2024 for Jake Ferguson. Not as bad as Trey McBride, but he is due in 2025.

Jake Ferguson played adequately for the Cowboys in 2024, finishing the season with 59 grabs for 494 yards. However, the 26-year-old tight end was recently quoted as saying, “I wasn’t satisfied with how I played last year.” Those numbers, while respectable, are disappointing for fantasy managers who watched the offense struggle, especially without Dak Prescott.

Two years ago, Ferguson was a Pro Bowler after a 71/761/5 campaign. While it’s safe to predict an uptick for the Cowboys offense as a whole in 2025, Ferguson’s zero touchdowns on 86 targets might be the most significant outlier. Dynasty owners should be cautiously optimistic about rolling Ferguson out there even as a TE1. In redraft formats, he is as safe as any tight end dart throw in the later rounds.

I have Ferguson as my TE13 (for redraft) in between Tucker Kraft and Colston Loveland. My ranking primarily relies on a return to form for Dak Prescott and a fair chance that Ferguson’s numbers regress to the mean.
