After discovery of a blood clot in his lung, Chris Olave will rest in Week 18.
Week 18 injuries and depth charts are ever shifting due to team playoff status and player incentives. It was recently discovered that Saints wide receiver Chris Olave had a blood clot in his lung.
Fortunately, the clot was detected and Olave is in good condition. He had expressed a desire to complete a 17 game season after numerous concussions the last few seasons. Olave’s dynasty value has improved tremendously as he finishes 2025 with 100 receptions, 1,163 receiving yards, and 9 touchdowns. His 16.8 fantasy points per game rank 7th and he will look to duplicate these numbers in year 5 at age 26.

The New Orleans Saints have won their fourth straight game, beating Tennessee Titans 34-26.
The New Orleans Saints knocked off the Tennessee Titans 34-26 in Week 17, with Chris Olave leading the way as the top fantasy producer. Heading into Sunday Night Football, Olave sits as the overall wide receiver 1 of the week in Fantasy Championship matchups. He was Tyler Shough’s top target, as the Saints quarterback threw for 333 yards and two touchdowns.
Besides Olave, Juwan Johnson also had a big day, finishing with four receptions for 95 yards. While the Saints’ passing game carried the offense, Audric Estime led the ground attack with 94 yards and a touchdown.
On the other side, the Titans continue to show improvement behind first overall pick Cam Ward. Ward finished with over 250 passing yards and two touchdowns, but costly mistake proved too much to overcome in loss.

After a reported back injury, Chris Olave is traveling with the Saints.
The Saints and fantasy managers had a slight injury scare when Chris Olave popped up on the injury report with a back injury on Friday. He is now set to play Sunday against the Titans.
With a late week injury report, it is prudent to monitor the situation, but as it sits, Olave will be traveling with the team and the team has expressed optimism regarding Olave’s status. Olave has been a target monster this year after battling concussions early in his career. Fire him up in a juicy matchup against the Titans.

The New Orleans Saints comeback with a strong game from receiver Chris Olave to sweep the Carolina Panthers 20-17.
The New Orleans Saints gutted out a come from behind win over the Carolina Panthers to complete their sweep of their division rivals. Saints quarterback Tyler Shough was efficient completing passes to 8 different players. The top beneficiary was star receiver Chris Olave with 6 catches for 85 yards and a touchdown.
Chris Olave was WR7 this season coming into this game. You wouldn’t know it because of the 4 wins the Saints have had all year. As long as Olave can stay healthy, he has shown to be a very reliable fantasy target. Rookie quarterback Tyler Shough has shown enough thus far to continue as the starting quarterback next year and that should bode well for the future for Olave.

New Orleans Saints second year quarterback Spencer Rattler has looked a lot better than 2025 second round pick Tyler Shough.
Spencer Rattler has looked like the best quarterback at New Orleans Saints training camp so far, outplaying 2025 40th overall pick Tyler Shough. Rattler has said he feels like the best quarterback on the field.
Chris Olave, Alvin Kamara and Rashid Shaheed will likely be dealing with quarterback turmoil throughout the season. The Saints are likely to start multiple quarterbacks this season and it looks like Rattler currently has the edge to begin the season atop the depth chart.
New Orleans will want to get a look at Shough at some point this season, he’s been a late round selection in fantasy drafts and this report won’t help his stock. Olave, Kamara and Shaheed have all been selections inside the top 110 of fantasy drafts even with the quarterback uncertainty accounted for.

The New Orleans Saints are picking up Chris Olave’s fifth-year option for $15.493M.
Olave is set to make just north of $15M in what will be his fifth season with the Saints and final year of his rookie contract. Olave missed the second half of 2024 with his 5th recorded concussion dating back to 2020 when he was with Ohio State. Despite his serious health concerns, accepting the 24-year-old’s rookie option is a no brainer for New Orleans who needs offensive weapons in the worst way.
Olave posted consecutive top 25 fantasy finishes to start his career. Last season he topped 80 yards in 4 of his 7 full games with inconsistent quarterback play. Fantasy owners should still expect the Saints to add to the position during the draft, possibly with their 9th overall pick.
More concerning for Olave’s immediate future is Derek Carr’s lingering shoulder concerns. With how Spencer Rattler looked in relief last year, maybe the team looks to take Shedeur Sanders or Jaxon Dart in the first over a receiver. Either way, Olave is a dynasty hold (unless you can get value) and should be drafted with severe caution in redraft and best ball leagues.
