Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud will miss the Thursday Night Football match against the Buffalo Bills with a concussion.
Despite returning to practice this week, CJ Stroud will miss his third game in a row due to a concussion suffered in the week 9 game against the Denver Broncos. Backup quarterback Davis Mills has kept the team afloat with wins over the Titans and Jaguars. Mills had finished as QB1 and QB9 overall in 4 pt passing touchdown leagues.
Davis Mills has been a serviceable fantasy option the last 2 weeks and faces the Buffalo Bills defense who have been a sieve against opposing offenses. Mills is a great streaming option if injuries or the bye week has left your team needing quarterback help.

Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud remains in the concussion protocol, Davis Mills will start against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
C.J. Stroud left the Houston Texans week 9 game against the Denver Broncos with a concussion and will now miss their week 10 matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars as he remains in the concussion protocol. In Stroud’s absence Davis Mills will start for the Texans.
Mills is a capable backup and the Houston offense should remain functional. Confidently start Nico Collins and the rest of the Texans skill players shouldn’t see much of a dip in production.

The Houston Texans seem to be doing everything possible to adequately prepare Stroud to be their week 1 starter.
Texans coach DeMeco Ryans announced that C.J. Stroud will be the starter for the Texans 3rd and final preseason game against the New Orleans Saints. Stroud has underwhelmed this preseason so far to date, totaling only 73 passing yards to go with zero TDs and one interception through his first two games. It’s safe to assume the Texans are hoping he can show a bit more of why he was taken 2nd overall in the 2023 draft during this final preseason game.
For Fantasy Managers, Stroud’s announcement as the week 3 starter is welcome news, as the Texans have signaled he fully vested as the future of the franchise. For redraft leagues, it’s best to pass on Stroud in drafts for now until he proves he can produce at the NFL level.
Stroud is poised to be the Week 1 starter for the Texans, which diminishes Davis Mills’ value on fantasy rosters.
